Artist Statement

My work is inspired by Indian miniature Paintings. In my works, I have juxtaposed popular images and Indian Miniature figures. It is like making a movie or writing a story which have the Fusion of past and present. Characters from past comes in my work and create a drama and give a message. Sometimes they posit relevant questions on our present society and the issues concerning us.

In my paintings I have used the materials from the old Indian tradition style, earthy pure and rich colors, also used the gold pattern (I have used acrylic gold color for this), used in "Banarasi Saris" which is very famous in India.

My work is a time machine where the memories of the past and the experience of present come together, which makes dream true. I believe we never forget our past but we hold our present and focus on our future.

The juxtaposition of miniature style and popular images are used to create an interaction of dreams. The background of my paintings sometimes uses historical interior and modern Interior, but I transform modern interior into traditional miniature style. Because I wish to combine tradition and modern together like soul and body. I believe tradition is our soul and modernity is our body.

We know that old is gold because our past is a mix of good and bad memories, it is a book of memories. We know we are in day dreaming about it but we still enjoy.

There is also a lot of fantasy in my day dreams which I always paint on my canvas.
